Just pre-ordered the Ouya game console

Today I've pre-ordered the Ouya gaming-console. For those how aren't familiar with this piece of hardware check out the introduction movie;

So why did I ordered the Ouya? Well I'm not so interested in the gaming features but more in the capability to run the XBMC media center on it. There're several XBMC developers involved with the development of the Ouya hardware and software so when Ouya comes to the public in April 2013 I'm expecting it to come with the XBMC release for Ouya.

So why yet another hardware solution at my home to run XBMC (besides the Zotac HTPC and my Raspberry Pi). Well the Ouya is very low priced, for only $99 you get;

  • Tegra3 quad-core processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • 8GB of internal flash storage
  • HDMI connection to the TV, with support for up to 1080p HD
  • WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
  • Bluetooth LE 4.0
  • one USB 2.0 port
  • Wireless controller with standard controls (two analog sticks, d-pad, eight action buttons, a system button) and a touchpad
  • OS: Android Jelly Bean

And it looks very nice;
